Maxi Joker 3DD (Dual Drive).
The specs are - Minicopter, maxi joker 3dd with 1.8 meter rotor
span can be taken to 1.9 meter. Main rotor motor is a Kholer actro 32-4
Heli max with Kontronik jive 80HV speed controller. Tail rotor motor is Hacker
A30 - 12 XL with Kontronik Jazz 55-6-18 speed controller. Batterys are Lipo
battery SLS-ZX 6s/5000 times 2 in series to make a 12s pack for the main motor
and a single Lipo battery SLS-ZX 4s/3300 for the tail rotor. The heli comes
standard with a flybarless head but we optioned for the flybar head or MFS head
as minicopter call it. Very simple head and easy to set up, also can be easily
setup to flybarless. We are using 9255s for cyclic and the GY611 with 9256 for
tail and also the spartan ap2000i and FMA sensor for stability.
The design for this heli is constructed for heavy lifting and with the separate
tail drive gives a much more efficent main motor (upto 25% more effiency) than
the previous maxi joker 2. The heli weighs in at 5.9kg and is capable of
lifting about 9kg check it out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QHwoU70bTU&feature=related and
also allows us to use a low head speed without losing any tail authority
(power). With that you only gain an extra 200grams.
To fly it’s awesome very smooth and not intimidating at all. Tracks very
straight and level which will be good when we start producing video.
You have to treat it like say flying a boeing rather than a f18 if you know
what I mean.
We will have a 3axes mount attached to it soon and all gyro stabilised, looking
forward to that. All I need now is another set of battery packs and a good
power source for the charger $$$.
Cheers Chris Neves.
