Taupo Westpac rescue weekend

A quick run down on what the NHMC boys got up to while in Taupo. After receiving plenty of interest for this event, it came down to who could get time off work, unfortunate Daroish, Clinton, Steve E, Carl & Colin were those that couldn’t join in the fun as work commitments came calling. The weather reports looked grim for Saturday/Sunday, I’m glad to report it didn’t spoil anyone’s fun, thank goodness the bad weather appeared to dump itself around the outskirts of Taupo, apart from a light drizzle both days around 3ish, at that time everyone had packed up & headed home.

With light winds both days, plenty of flying was achieved, Saturdays flying was carried out at Spar Rd flying site & Sunday at Taupo Airport SH1.

The day was full of 3D flying from Linton & Chris, general flying/Aero’s from Clayton, Craig, Steve N & John plus Scale flying from Clayton, Wayne & Steve N. Thanks also goes to Vicki for helping out; lets not forget about the full size Helis Air displays, ranging from water drops to live rescues. The Mi8 was something else.

Everyone agreed the Westpac rescue display was a great success, The organizers told us they were inundated with calls asking if the R/C Helis were flying Sunday due to the overcast weather, We know now why so much interest with the organizers broadcasting the event & the R/C contingent over the Radio, plus articles in the News papers.
