NHP CONCEPT
30 & 60 RUDDER PUSH ROD KITS.
These push rod kits consist of
a Carbon Fibre mount designed to relocate the servo
to the rear of the mechanics just forward of the
boom. All fittings are provided including cap screws,
metal balls and ball links. A carbon fibre shaft acts
as the push rod on to which metal ends for the screw
in links have been pre-assembled.
Fitting the kit is relatively
straight forward once the existing linkages have been
removed. The only additional item that was required
was a servo extension lead for the 60. The carbon
fibre push rod is self supporting and connects
directly to the servo arm and rudder bellcrank. This
means there is no lost movement or slop in the
linkage and the tail feels very positive. This is
vast improvement over the standard Concept setup.
The mount for the 30 can be
positioned with the servo below or above the boom.
With the servo above the boom access to the stater
cone is as per normal. If the servo is mounted below
the boom (which looks neater) a starter extension
will be required as the servo obstructs the starter.
Once the pushrod length is set
correctly full rudder movement is easily obtainable
in both directions.
There was a slight change of C of G on the 60 but
this was measured without any fuel. A ¼ tank
corrects this and there is no noticeable change in
flying. In flight the rudder is very direct with less
stick movement required as compared with the standard
setup and the gyro sensitivity had to be turned down
to prevent the tail waging.
The kits are available in New
Zealand through Brian McMillan.
